Children's Activity Sessions -
Summer 2010 From 26th July until 3rd September Greenbank Sports Academy will be increasing its toddler sessions for the summer season;Mondays: 10am-12pm (new for the summer) Wednesdays: 10am-2pm (all year) Fridays: 12.30-2.30pm (all year) Sessions will continue to cost £2.50 per child, plus £1 per extra child. EXTRA SESSIONS FOR 6-12YR OLDS! In addition to the new toddler session, we now offer extra activity sessions for 6-12yr olds, running at the same times as the above. These will be supervised by staff & allow participants to try numerous sports & take part in Wii competitions. Sessions will cost £3 per child. The Summer Reading
Challenge – Space Hop Local Libraries The Summer Reading Challenge is simple; children are encouraged to read six or more books of their choice during the holidays with collectable incentives and rewards, plus a certificate or medal for every child who completes the Challenge. Children can sign up at their local library from Saturday July 10th to Saturday September 4th and all materials are absolutely free. September Steamings at Bolton Steam
Museum Bolton Our volunteers have rescued and restored over 25 old stationary steam engines - some of the engines which once drove the cotton mills and woollen mills of the North of England. Most will be running in steam on these 2 days. Our collection includes 2 rare beam engines (the oldest is around 170 years old.) We have just resuced another very old and unusual engine from the scrapman. After lying in a field in yorkshire for 30 years, our volunteers are busy restoring it to working order. Wythenshawe Q&A sessions with BBC Radio Manchester’s gardening expert Andy Hewitt & vegetable growing competition which the local schools have been involved in. Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at the Forum. Inspiring displays of arts and crafts will include ceramics, woodwork, calligraphy and willow-weaving, with interactive recycled art and pot painting workshops promising visitors of all ages the chance to learn new skills.
