Chester-based Family WEBSITE achieves 1 million hits!
As reported widely at its launch, Kidsguide was established by Chester mum, Zena Barrick, who wanted to create a one-stop-shop of information for local families.
“I was
frustrated at how hard it was to find out where to go on a rainy day, when
our local toddler group met or who could teach my daughter guitar.”
Kidsguide struck chord with local parents and word soon spread about this new free website. As visitor numbers grew, the emails started pouring in from all over the country asking for Kidsguide to cover their area too. So Kidsguide started expanding and already serves the whole of Cheshire, Wirral, Flintshire and Wrexham. ……………………………………………………………………………………… About www.kidsguide.co.uk www.kidsguide.co.uk is a local online guide to children’s events, kids’ clubs, sports, childcare, parties, baby and pre-school facilities, family support services and family days out in Cheshire, Wirral, Flintshire and Wrexham. About
www.kidsguide.co.uk
Press release January 2005 - re: launch
what’s on for chester kids? Local mum, Zena Barrick, has launched “Kidsguide” – definitive and locally biased on-line guide for Chester families seeking up-to-date information about facilities and events suitable for children in Chester and the surrounding area. The web site – www.kidsguide.co.uk – is designed to be community-based pulling together information about a variety of activities and resources such as after-school clubs, contacts for swimming lessons, where to borrow toys for children with special needs, as well as services such nappy laundering. Speaking about her motivation for setting up the web site, Upton mum, Zena Barrick, said: I had lived in Chester for five years when I had my first baby and as I had not grown up in the area I had no network of contacts to tell me how to find childcare or where to take kids on a rainy day. I didn’t discover that there was an excellent toddler group just round the corner until my daughter was three and too old to go! Zena added: “Although there are many sources of information in Chester, there didn’t seem to be a single, easy-to-use resource to find out all the kids’ stuff you usually only find out by speaking to people.” Establishing a single resource was the motivation behind www.kidsguide.co.uk, which has taken a whole year of painstaking research to complete. www.kidsguide.co.uk has expanded rapidly to include sections on childcare, local family support charities, kids’ sports clubs, language classes, parties, baby and toddler services and a continually updated what’s on listing. The web site is aimed at parents with children aged 0-14, in particular, those new to parenthood, new to Chester or who are simply fed up of hearing those immortal words “I’m bored… what can we do today..?” If you have any suggestions for family-friendly facilities, services or events around Chester, please email contact@kidsguide.co.uk. It’s all free and you will be helping other local families by sharing your knowledge.
